NOLA J. PENDER, PHD, RN, FAAN
Nola Pender is Professor Emerita at University of Michigan School of Nursing.  She developed the Health Promotion Model
that is used internationally for research, education, and practice. This website will provide information regarding her professional background, identify critical elements of her theory, explore the relevance of her theory to nursing, as well as delineate her Health Promotion Model and its application to nursing practice.

“I committed myself to the proactive stance of health promotion and disease prevention with the conviction that it is much better to experience exuberant well-being and prevent disease than let disease happen when it is avoidable and then try and cope with it.”
Nola J. Pender, PhD, RN, FAAN
